Boost Technologies Tops List of Largest Dayton-Area Ad Agencies

Boost Technologies, LLC, parent company of Shumsky, was just named #1 on the Top Advertising Agencies list by the Dayton Business Journal. The rankings were locally researched by Jane Applegate of the Dayton Business Journal, with the final rankings based on number of local employees. Dayton has been home to Shumsky since it was founded in 1953 by Hy Shumsky and has remained a family-owned business for three generations.  “We take a lot of pride in being part of the Dayton community for over 60 years," said Michael Emoff, grandson of Hy Shumsky and current Chairman, "We are proud to be ranked #1 on DBJ’s Top Ad Agencies list for the second year in a row." Global Business Coalition Against Human Trafficking (gBCAT) Expands Scope and Steps Up Efforts to End Trafficking

Major global companies, including Boost Technologies dba Shumsky Promotional, have renewed their commitment to the Global Business Coalition Against Human Trafficking (gBCAT) through an expanded membership and scope of work. Formed in 2010, gBCAT has provided a unique forum for business to understand how all forms of modern slavery affect their operations and supply chains, and to design effective and pragmatic solutions to combat traffickers. BSR—a global nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable business—has been appointed secretariat of the initiative. Under its new scope of work, gBCAT will capitalize on the major organizational strengths, resources, and reach of global businesses to accelerate progress on human trafficking. Through three work streams, members will share learnings through webinars and in-person meetings; develop a Research Lab to incubate ideas, publish reports, and identify areas for action; and publicize findings through an enhanced Public Platform. Issues to be addressed include employee or sub-contractor training programs, company policies, and best practices in reporting around the U.K. Modern Slavery Act. Chasing the Dream, Olympic-Style, in Partnership with Shumsky

PPEF Awards Jayne Emoff Miller Scholarship

PPEF (Promotional Products Education Foundation) recently awarded the Jayne Emoff Miller scholarship to a future graduate of Brandeis University. Jayne Emoff Miller was the former owner of Shumsky Promotional, located in Dayton, OH. She was a second generation owner of Shumsky during the mid-1980’s into the mid-2000’s and one of the early diversity businesses certified as a Woman Owned Business. Miller was a part of Shumsky for over 40 years - selling, leading and molding teams. She developed her skills from a combination of the mentoring she received from her parents, trial and error, industry education, and her peers. Carmen Huang is the scholarship recipient and a first-generation college student. New Hire Kits to Build your Culture (and Brand)

Overwhelming, time-consuming, disorganized, unclear… Just a few words you might be using to define the on-boarding process at your company. We found ourselves in the same boat a couple of years ago and decided it was time for a change. Similar to our mission statement, we needed to design, develop, and deliver a new (seamless, organized, clear, and FUN) process to our new hires, including a new hire kit. Shumsky’s Wellness Team transformed into our HY5 Culture Team. While many of the onboarding tasks required attention from Human Resources, the Marketing team attacked the (non-existent) new hire kit. We implemented new hire kits, or branded “swag bags”, to include our 2016 promotional products catalog, a branded baseball tshirt, personalized license plate, fanny pack, candy, and custom journal book with a letter from our owner that explains the meaning behind our mission, vision, and core values. The most important component of the swag bag is the personalized license plate which hangs at each employee’s desk. Shumsky Honored for Excellence in Promotional Marketing Campaign

Shumsky Wins Local and National Award for Marketing Campaign Shumsky is proud to announce we recently won a GOLD in the 2016 Pyramid Award Competition sponsored by Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) and a SILVER Hermes Award through Dayton’s American Advertising Federation (AAF). Both awards were given for Shumsky’s collaboration on a marketing campaign for a season ticket delivery package for the Dayton Dragons. Thirty-Five Gold, Silver and Bronze winners were recognized at the PPAI Awards Presentation & Reception (in conjunction with The PPAI Expo in Las Vegas). Minor League Baseball Team Delivers Creativity and Fun in Season Ticket Package

Shumsky helps drive loyalty and maintain customer retention for season ticket holders of the Dayton Dragons minor league baseball team. The Need Our client needed a vehicle to deliver a season ticket package to over 5,000 holders and create buzz for the upcoming baseball season. The Solution Our creative team began brainstorming ideas for a fun way to package season tickets. Previously used concepts included a custom home plate box, metal tin/lunch box, and a wooden cigar box all designed and printed with Dayton Dragons branding. Together, we designed and presented an imitation of a Wheaties cereal box, using the Dragons mascot, Heater, on the front of the box and called it “Heaties”. The box contained a sample of the Limited Edition cereal, season tickets and owner’s manual (directions to stadium, seating charts, and contact info for staff), magnet and pocket schedule, and a “free prize” (custom promotional keychains).  The full-color imprint on the box was jam-packed with information such as the opening date, social media icons, serving sizes (of fun!), alumni players, QR codes, and six puzzles and quizzes.
