Raj Soin College of Business Marketing Dept. Awards Jayne Emoff Miller Scholarship
Wright State’s Raj Soin College of Business Marketing Department recently awarded the Jayne Emoff Miller to future graduate Hannah Jones, of Dayton, OH.
Jayne Emoff Miller was the former owner of Shumsky Promotional, located in Dayton, OH. She was a second-generation owner of Shumsky from the mid-1980s into the mid-2000s and one of the early diversity businesses certified as a Woman-Owned Business. Miller was a part of Shumsky for over 40 years – selling, leading and molding teams. She developed her skills from a combination of mentoring she received from her parents, trial and error, industry education and her peers.
Determined through a competitive application process and chosen by marketing faculty, Jones is the first-ever recipient of the Jayne Emoff Miller Scholarship. She is in pursuit of a double major in Entrepreneurship and Management with a double minor in Spanish and International Business.
Jones has always had a passion for business and aviation. Her father started MTS Toy & Hobby, a military toy shop located in Beavercreek, OH. She and her father travel the country selling their products at some of the largest air shows in the world. Growing up in a family business has shown her that through hard work and determination, “you can achieve the unimaginable”.
Jones currently works for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), located at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. “I’m paying for college on my own, with no loans, and am driven to get better in anything I do,” states Jones. “I have been very grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me… Thank you so much for selecting me for this scholarship, you are helping me get one step closer to graduating college debt-free!”
Michael Emoff, son of Jayne Emoff Miller and Chief Vision Officer of Shumsky, states, “With this scholarship in my mother’s name, we can continue to honor her and her legacy in the promotional industry and our community.” Emoff says, “The opportunity to continue making a difference in young people’s lives, such as Hannah’s, would make my mother immensely proud and humbled.”
